Today, Katell and I went to meet Philippe, a knife maker and new partner of the tourist office.
In Philippe's family, as in others, tradition dictates that a child is given their first knife ontheir sixth birthday. He therefore grew up with this famous tool, and cutlery quickly became a passion. So when he found himself having to change career direction, it was only natural that Philippe turned to this activity.
So here we are at the "Lames du Ramu" workshop in Esternay, where the craftsman explains all the stages involved in making a knife: from purchasing the raw materials to forging and assembly. We even got a little demonstration!
