The gardens of the Château de Réveillon are first mentioned around 1662, the year the French-style garden was created, along with the path known as the Retourneloup, which extends the French-style garden along the east side of the château.
The only depiction of the gardens appears on the land survey map dating from the 1730s.
In 1992, when the current owners purchased the château, the gardens had been left completely neglected. The chestnut trees and boxwoods in the French-style garden were at the end of their lives.
The large garden had been completely overtaken by the forest. The melon patch had been turned into a dumping ground. Restoration work began as early as 1994. In 2003, the French-style garden was replanted with 80 young chestnut trees and about 4,000 boxwoods. Since the summer of 2006, efforts have focused on the large garden.
