The Construction of Saint-Martin Church in Mœurs

Saint Martin Church, a 13th-century Romanesque structure with a 16th-century side chapel and nave housing a magnificent early 16th-century fresco (1520–1530) depicting a medieval moral lesson: – “The Tale of the Three Dead and the Three Living,” 7 meters long and 3.50 meters high – an original 13th-century stone altar with remnants of paintings on its sides (Maltese cross and foliage) – its sandstone and terracotta tile flooring. In various parts of the building, traces of polychromy can be found (false masonry, fleurs-de-lis, biblical scenes, consecration crosses, and floral wreaths); one can also see, on the ends of the beams in the choir, mascarons depicting the grinning faces of monks.
