Réveillon Castle

A castle in the style of Henry IV, completed during the reign of Marie de Médicis, Réveillon was home in the 18th century to the Marquis d’Argenson, Minister of Foreign Affairs under Louis XV, and to Jules Robert de Cotte, the King’s architect, who remodeled it and adorned it with paintings and sculptures. It became the setting for the works of Marcel Proust, who was a guest of Madeleine Lemaire, the lady of the house in the late 19th century. The château and its gardens are currently undergoing extensive restoration. A tour of Réveillon will take you on a journey through its past. You’ll explore the 18th-century salons on the ground floor, the outbuildings—including the remarkable dovecote, a listed historic monument—as well as the park, garden, and vegetable garden. A photo exhibition documents the restoration work undertaken since 1992. There is also a memorial room dedicated to the 58th RA, which fought at Réveillon on June 13, 1940.
